What is National Health Insurance?
- It is a system managed and operated by the National Health Insurance Service, which, by paying premiums regularly, prevents excessive financial burden on households due to high medical expenses incurred from illness or injury, and provides necessary medical services through insurance benefits when needed.
Registration Method
- Foreign international students who have been in Korea for 6 months or more are automatically enrolled in the National Health Insurance.
- Also, after entering Korea and completing alien registration, a health insurance enrollment guide will be sent to the registered address of stay, and the health insurance card will be sent after enrollment.
How to Pay Insurance Premiums
- Insurance premiums can be paid on the National Health Insurance Service website, at a branch office, or at banks.
- You can also set up automatic monthly payments by designating an account.
- Additionally, you can receive monthly statements and pay via internet banking transfer.
